These are some positions DHS fills on a regular basis.

Family Service Worker

The Family Service Worker is responsible for providing protective foster care and supportive services for abused or neglected children.

Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field; plus successful completion of a six month training class within agency core training period.

  • Family Development, Family Services
  • Human Development and Family Studies
  • Human Services / Public Service
  • Rehabilitation Science
  • Social Welfare / Social Science
  • Behavior Science
  • Criminal Justice / Criminology / Justice Studies
  • Education (Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Middle Level)
  • Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education)
  • Home Economics / Family and Consumer Science

NO SUBSTITUTIONS WILL BE MADE FOR BACHELOR'S DEGREE REQUIREMENT.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Travel required. State Vehicle Safety program required driver to possess and maintain a valid Arkansas driver's license. Driving privileges and mileage reimbursement are contingent upon results of traffic violations records check in accordance with State Vehicle Safety Program.

Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care and the provision of other patient services in a clinical setting.

Minimum Qualifications: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing in accordance with ACA 17-87-301.

Notes: May be required to work rotating shifts or hours other than normal working hours or to be on call.

Program Eligibility Specialist

The Program Eligibility Specialist is responsible for obtaining client information, preparing and monitoring case plans, coordinating services with providers, and preparing information and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, early childhood education, child and family development, business administration, or a related field.

Rehabilitation Counselor

The Rehabilitation Counselor is responsible for implementing and monitoring individualized rehabilitation programs and providing therapeutic counseling and referral services for patients in need of rehabilitative care.

Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field; plus three years of experience in rehabilitation counseling or related field.
